Create the escape ingame
Once your map is prepared for a new escape, you can create a new game in order to create your escape, which is done ingame.
To know :
- You absolutely have to know commands "-z" and "-y. They allow you to cancel and redo most of the actions like do ctrl+z and ctrl+y in an office automation software.
- If you are mapmaking and want to stop your current action type "-stop" (-s).
- In MEC 2 the most amazing feature added is the -help feature. If you are looking for a command then type "-help (keyword)" and a list of commands that have the keyword in the description or the syntax will be shown. Also check out the Commands page on the website.
- Shortcuts are very useful too, they allow binding commands to any key of your choosing. You can also use a modifier (such as shift and control). Type "-help assign" for information about this. If you forget what you assigned, you can display your assigned keys/shortcuts by typing "-displayShortcuts" (-ds).
- At the start of the game, the screen is all black. Don't panic, type command "-viewAll" (-va).
Mapmaking tip: In MEC 2 there are two game modes, solo and co-op mode. Co-op mode makes slides easier, so if you make a slide and want to make it difficult for co-op, take it into account when you test it solo. Just don't go too crazy and make it impossible, because you will likely want to beat your map solo once you have improved later.
